About Tomislav Turčin

Tomislav Turčin is the fact-checker at OnlineBroker.ae. He is responsible for editorial standards across broker reviews and best-broker guides, and for verifying claims about regulation, fees, protections and account terms against primary sources.

He has been director of CSAD Consulting Ltd. in Zagreb since 2013, where his work covers market analysis, business development and trading in forex and futures markets. That trading background is what he brings to the reviews: he reads a fee schedule the way someone who pays those fees reads it, and checks a spread or overnight-financing claim against what the broker actually publishes rather than what it advertises.

His earlier career was in technology and consulting: an IT engineer and Java developer through the early 2000s, then a senior e-business consultant, followed by two years working independently as a business consultant before founding CSAD. Working with structured data, and the habit of tracing a figure back to its source, comes from that period.

Verification here means going to the primary source rather than to another comparison site: the CMA, DFSA, FSRA and VARA public registers and the underlying UAE legislation, the broker's own published fee schedule and legal documents, and the register entry for the specific legal entity that actually onboards a UAE resident. Where a figure or a claim cannot be traced to one of those, he pushes back on it and it does not go out.

His role is deliberately separate from authorship. Where Giles Thomas researches, tests and writes, Tomislav's job is to be the check on that work, which is why his contribution is counted in reviews and guides fact-checked rather than in articles bylined. On a site whose value is being more careful than the broker marketing it compares, that independent verification is the point.

His role connects directly to the site methodology. He reviews the structured broker data, confirms regulatory claims (licence numbers, investor-protection schemes, tier classifications and legal entities) against the relevant regulator's public register, checks the freshness and accountability fields, and edits the writing so it is accurate, balanced and clear for UAE readers.

“Every regulatory and fee claim on this site should be traceable to a primary source. My job is to make sure it is.”

What Tomislav verifies

Every review and guide goes through the same checks before it is published, and each one has a source that has to exist for the claim to survive.

  • Regulatory accuracy: the named legal entity, its licence number and its entry on the regulator's own public register.
  • Legislative citations: UAE decree-laws and Cabinet decisions read in the original text, not paraphrased from a secondary summary.
  • Fee and figure verification: spreads, commission, swap, conversion and withdrawal costs checked against the broker's published schedule.
  • Risk-disclosure completeness: that the loss warning and the product's real downside are stated where the product is discussed.
  • Editorial independence: that a commercial relationship has not moved a score, a ranking or a verdict.

Why the count is reviews checked, not articles written

Tomislav does not carry bylines on this site, and a profile that showed him as the author of nothing would misrepresent what he does. The honest metric for an editor and fact-checker is how much of the site he has verified, so that is what is counted here: the reviews and guides listed below have each been checked by him before publication.

Disclaimer

eToro is a multi-asset platform which offers both investing in stocks and cryptoassets, as well as trading CFDs.

Please note that CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 51% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work, and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

UAE residents are onboarded to eToro (ME) Ltd, which holds Financial Services Permission 220073 from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority in ADGM. That entity operates no statutory investor compensation scheme: the UK's FSCS and the Cypriot ICF cover only clients of eToro's UK and EU entities and do not extend to UAE clients, and ADGM has no equivalent retail scheme. Client money is held in segregated accounts, which is not the same as being compensated if the firm fails.
