XM Review UAE 2026

XM holds a CMA licence for promotion in the UAE; accounts are held with its Mauritius company. A forex and CFD broker with a low minimum deposit.

Your capital is at risk. Leveraged products may not be suitable for everyone. This is XM's own risk warning; neither XM's UAE sign-up page nor the client documents for the account we opened states a retail-loss percentage, so none is stated here.

XM platform overview

XM has a UAE website and sign-up page, so we opened a real account through it on 14 September 2026, funded it, traded, and withdrew the full balance.

The mechanics worked. We were verified in about 20 minutes, our $200 card deposit landed in under a minute, and the full balance came back to our card.

What to weigh is the structure. XM's Dubai company is licensed only to promote XM. Our account was registered with XM International MU Limited in Mauritius, which deals with you as principal.

There's no compensation scheme and no dirham option. The spread we paid was wider than advertised, and the lower-spread account gets no deposit bonus.

Our expert verdict

XM does the mechanics well. Verification took about 20 minutes, our card deposit landed in under a minute with no XM fee, and a 0.01-lot EUR/USD trade opened and closed without a hitch. Our full $200.01 came back to the card, with a settlement date about 8.5 hours after we asked.

The structure matters more. Our account sits with a Mauritius company that is the counterparty to every trade. XM's UAE licence covers only promotion.

On EUR/USD we measured 1.1 to 1.3 pips against an advertised 0.8, and XM told us it publishes no average.

Treat XM as a capable platform with an offshore counterparty, not as a UAE-regulated place to keep your money.

What to watch out for

  • Your account isn't held in the UAE. XM's Dubai company is licensed only to introduce and promote. The account we opened through XM's UAE sign-up page was registered with XM International MU Limited in Mauritius.
  • "DFSA-regulated" isn't about your account. A group company, Trading Point MENA Limited, holds a DFSA licence, limited to matched-principal dealing. Our account wasn't opened with it.
  • No compensation scheme. XM's documents name none, and XM says segregation "may not afford a complete protection" (Risk Disclosure 5.8).
  • 1000:1 leverage by default. That's what our account was set to, and XM can change it "at any time, without prior notice" (32.2).
  • The spread was wider than advertised. We measured EUR/USD at 1.1 to 1.3 pips against "as low as 0.8". Live chat told us XM publishes no average: "We do not."
  • No bonus on Ultra Low. Our $200 deposit earned $0.00 credit; XM's terms exclude Ultra Low accounts (E.7).
  • Face check before withdrawing. It was required even though our profile was already verified.
  • Dormancy fee. USD 10 a month after 90 days without activity (79.1, 79.3).
  • Tight complaint window. Complaints must reach XM in writing within three business days, or you're deemed to have accepted its actions (94.4). Disputes go to the courts of Mauritius (107.1).

Pros

  • Quick to open and fund: verified in about 20 minutes, and a $200 card deposit credited in under a minute with no XM fee
  • MT4 and MT5 alongside a web platform with TradingView charts, which we traded on without problems
  • No commission on our Ultra Low Standard account: the cost is the spread
  • Swap-free conversion can be requested from the live account, with XM stating 24-hour processing
  • Micro-lot sizing and a free demo make it cheap to test before committing
  • The platform menu lists Trading Central, an economic calendar, webinars and live education (not tested by us)
  • Two-factor login by authenticator app or email code, which we enabled and used
  • Our full $200.01 card withdrawal came back with nothing deducted (one payout)

Cons

  • No UAE licence stands behind the account, and no compensation scheme covers it
  • Our account was registered offshore, with XM International MU Limited in Mauritius, which deals with you as principal
  • No ETFs, bonds or options on the list we saw, and real share ownership unconfirmed: the separate Shares account was not tested
  • No AED: our card was billed in USD with no rate shown, and the wire route is USD to a London account
  • A USD 10 monthly dormancy fee after 90 days without activity
  • Not publicly listed; we did not check whether XM's companies publish financial statements
  • 1000:1 leverage by default, changeable by XM without notice
  • EUR/USD measured at 1.1 to 1.3 pips vs 0.8 advertised; no published average
  • The 100% deposit bonus XM promotes does not apply to Ultra Low accounts
  • A face verification is required before a withdrawal request is accepted, even on an already verified profile
  • No statement download in the web platform: trade history and per-transaction emails only
  • Complaints must be raised in writing within three business days, and disputes go to the courts of Mauritius

How we tested XM

Giles Thomas opened a live XM account on Monday 14 September 2026 through XM's UAE sign-up page. He completed verification and added an MT5 Ultra Low Standard account in US dollars. He deposited $200 by card, took seven EUR/USD and four gold spread readings over about half an hour in the London-New York overlap, and placed and closed a 0.01-lot EUR/USD trade. He then asked live chat about spreads and withdrew the full balance to the card. We funded the account a second time. On 21 September we used the XM App on an iPhone: a gold round trip from order ticket to close, then a withdrawal of the whole balance, $200.53, back to the same card. We hold no capture of that second deposit, so we don't state its date or amount. We read the six XM International MU Limited documents accepted at sign-up. We also checked XM's UAE and DIFC companies on the CMA and DFSA registers, and XM Global Limited on the Belize FSC register. What we didn't do: fund by wire, request a swap-free conversion, test Arabic support, or use MT4 or MT5. The Mauritius FSC register blocked our check, so XM's licence there rests on its own documents. The spread readings cover one window on one day, and each withdrawal is a single payout to one card.

Safety, regulation & UAE legal entity

3.0

Who holds your account. Ours was registered with XM International MU Limited, a Mauritius company that XM says is regulated there under licence GB23202700. The sign-up footer said so, the Client Agreement names it, it's the beneficiary on XM's wire instructions, and our deposit confirmation came from it.

It is "always the counterparty (or principal) to every trade" and "the sole Execution Venue" (Order Execution Policy s.2, s.5).

What XM's UAE licences cover. XM Financial Products Promotion L.L.C holds a CMA Category 5 licence for introduction and promotion only. The register says it isn't licensed for brokerage in derivatives or spot FX.

Trading Point MENA Limited is DFSA-licensed in the DIFC for futures, which can include CFDs, on a matched-principal basis only. Neither played any part in our account.

Protection. XM's documents name no compensation scheme. Client money is segregated but that "may not afford a complete protection" (Risk Disclosure 5.8), and negative balance protection may be withheld where XM suspects abuse (59.11).

One open question. The privacy policy on xm.com is issued by XM Global Limited in Belize. Our evidence covers our own account, so other UAE sign-ups may land elsewhere. Check the company named in your own client agreement.

Two-factor login by authenticator app is available, and we used it.

UAE legal entity: XM International MU Limited (Mauritius). XM International MU Limited (Mauritius) held the account we opened through XM's UAE sign-up page on 14 September 2026. XM's UAE company, XM Financial Products Promotion L.L.C (CMA record CP-0001487, Business Bay), is licensed only for introduction and promotion. The footer gives CMA licence number 20200000322, which the register record we read doesn't display. XM's DIFC company played no part in our account. Account opening

4.5
Opening / 5

Opening was fully online and quick. On 14 September 2026 we went from registration to a verified profile in about 20 minutes, before depositing anything.

The form asked for an SMS code, personal and tax details, a short financial profile and one experience question. Identity checks ran through Sumsub (a document and a liveness check), followed by a proof-of-residency upload.

XM created a default MT5 Standard account. We added an MT5 Ultra Low Standard account in US dollars, set to 1000:1 leverage on a ladder down to 1:1.

We did everything in a desktop browser, so we haven't confirmed you can sign up in the app.

Ultra Low Standard$50 by card—The account we opened, funded and traded. 1 lot = 100,000, no commission, minimum trade 0.01 lots. XM advertises "Spreads as low as 0.8 Pips"; we measured 1.1 to 1.3 pips on EUR/USD. It does not get XM's deposit bonus: our $200 deposit earned $0.00 credit, and XM's referral terms say Ultra Low account types "are not subject to Credit Bonus" (E.7).

XM offered our account nine deposit methods: cards, Skrill, Neteller, wire, crypto, MuchBetter, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Volet.com. None is in dirhams.

Deposit. We paid $200 by card. The form showed "No fee", a $50 minimum and a $10,000 maximum. The payment page named Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd in Limassol and billed in US dollars, with no exchange rate shown. The balance showed $200.00 in under a minute.

If your card is in dirhams, your own bank does the conversion, at its rate.

Wire. US dollars to XM International MU Limited through a UK IBAN at Equals Money in London. XM says it covers its banks' fees except on deposits under $200. We didn't test it.

Withdrawal. XM offered five methods, with a $20 card minimum. It required a face verification before accepting our request, even though we were already verified. The balance went to zero immediately.

The full $200.01 showed as a pending card credit within about 18 minutes. Our card issuer's app later marked it Completed, settling the next day, about 8.5 hours after we asked, with nothing deducted.

A second round. We funded the account again and, on 21 September, withdrew the whole balance of $200.53 to the same card from inside the XM App, after another face check. We hold no capture of that second deposit, so we don't state its date or amount.

That's two payouts to one card. The settlement date is the card issuer's, not XM's. XM says it aims to process withdrawals within one business day (72.3) and can charge withdrawal fees (74.3).

We measured spreads on our MT5 Ultra Low Standard account on 14 September 2026, in the London-New York overlap. EUR/USD ran 1.1 to 1.3 pips across seven readings, and gold $0.27 to $0.31 across four. XM advertises "as low as 0.8 pips" and "as low as 0.24 USD". We never saw either.

There's no commission, so a 0.01-lot EUR/USD round trip costs about $0.11 to $0.13.

Asked whether it publishes an average spread, XM's live chat said "We do not". Its agreement says it has no obligation to quote "with a specific maximum spread" (82.5).

Our card deposit and withdrawal cost nothing, though XM reserves the right to charge withdrawal fees (74.3). Dormant accounts pay USD 10 a month after 90 days (79.3). One window on one day is a sample, not a spread study.

Web & desktop platform

We traded on XM's web platform, which uses TradingView charts. The ticket showed the live spread, the margin ($1.15 for 0.01 lots of EUR/USD, $4.28 for 0.01 lots of gold at 1000:1) and your loss at the stop once you set one.

Our 0.01-lot EUR/USD buy filled at 1.15331. We closed it 9 minutes 48 seconds later at 1.15332, for a $0.01 profit, with no swap or commission. We didn't capture the quote at submission, so we publish no slippage figure.

Two quirks: the stop loss showed on the chart while the panel's stop-loss toggle read off, and there's no statement download. XM's agreement says you can export history from the Members Area (68.2), but we found no export button.

Copy Trading and trading competitions are there too; we used neither.

Mobile app

We installed the XM App on an iPhone and used it on the live account on 21 September 2026. It makes you set its own passcode before offering biometrics. Two-factor login was already tied to an authenticator app, with email codes marked Unavailable, which is a stronger default than most.

The app switches to Arabic and mirrors right to left, though XM marks the language with a Saudi flag rather than a UAE one.

We traded gold in it, a full round trip from order ticket to close, and withdrew the whole balance, $200.53, back to the same card. A face check was required again. We didn't install MT4 or MT5.

UAE-specific features

For our account, XM's UAE presence was marketing. Its Dubai company is licensed only to introduce and promote, and says on its own sign-up page that it is "not authorized to hold client money". Our account went to Mauritius (see the safety section).

In practice, nothing was in dirhams. Our card was billed in US dollars, the wire goes in dollars to London, and the payout came back in dollars. Leverage was 1000:1.

A swap-free conversion can be requested, and live chat offers a language choice. We tested neither.

Customer support

We tested live chat inside the account on 14 September 2026. A virtual assistant, Sophia, came first and misread our question. A human agent joined within about a minute and answered each question in about a minute.

On the gap between our 1.1 to 1.3 pips and the advertised 0.8, the agent said "as low as" means the best case, since spreads vary. Asked if XM publishes an average, the agent said "We do not" and pointed us to MT5 tick data.

Support email is support@xm.com. We found no UAE phone number; XM's emails give a Mauritius (+230) number. We didn't test Arabic, email or phone support.

Research & education

XM signposts a Learning Center from its main navigation, headed Learn to Trade. That is the honest limit of what we can tell you: the landing page offers a heading, a line of copy and a Get Started button, with no course list, no levels and no count visible before you click through. In the platform XM lists Trading Central, an economic calendar, webinars and live education, none of which we opened.

So there is provision here, and it is promoted, but we have neither counted it nor used it. Research and education stays unscored rather than guessed at.

Verdict

XM is quick to open, instant to fund by card and easy to use on the web, and its documents are clear that it's your counterparty.

For a UAE resident, that structure is the thing to weigh. Our account sat with a Mauritius company, with no compensation scheme and no dirham option. We paid 1.1 to 1.3 pips on EUR/USD against an advertised 0.8, and the Ultra Low account gets no bonus.

If you want MetaTrader, small positions and a fast start, and accept an offshore counterparty, XM works. If you want a UAE-regulated company holding your account, choose a broker whose UAE entity is the one you contract with.

Recent news

  • Kenya licence, and what the UAE licence does not cover

XM obtained a licence from Kenya's Capital Markets Authority. Reporting on it noted that XM's UAE Category 5 licence permits promotion and client referral but not holding client funds or executing trades. That matches our own test, in which the account we opened as a UAE resident sat with XM's Mauritius company. Kenya's CMA is a different regulator from the UAE's Capital Market Authority.

Frequently asked questions

Is XM regulated in the UAE?
Not in a way that covers your account. XM's UAE company, XM Financial Products Promotion L.L.C, holds a CMA licence for introduction and promotion only, and says it is "not authorized to hold client money". The account we opened through it was registered with XM International MU Limited, which XM says is regulated in Mauritius.
Is XM DFSA-regulated in Dubai?
A group company is. Trading Point MENA Limited (DFSA F003484) is licensed for futures, dealing only on a matched-principal basis. But our account wasn't opened with it: it went to XM International MU Limited in Mauritius. We didn't test whether the DIFC company offers anything to UAE retail clients.
Which XM entity would hold my money as a UAE resident?
For our account, XM International MU Limited in Mauritius. The UAE sign-up footer said so, the Client Agreement names it, and our deposit confirmation came from it. Card payments went through a Cyprus group company. The privacy policy on xm.com is issued by XM Global Limited in Belize, so other sign-ups may differ. Check the company named in your own client agreement.
Is my money protected if XM fails?
Not by any compensation scheme we could find; XM's documents name none. Client money is segregated, possibly pooled, but XM says that "may not afford a complete protection" (Risk Disclosure 5.8). Negative balance protection may be withheld where XM suspects abuse (59.11). We tested neither.
Is XM halal?
XM offers swap-free status on request, processed within 24 hours, it says. It claims its Islamic accounts "comply with Sharia Law" but cites no certification or Sharia board. XM can refuse or revoke the status, a request converts all your real accounts, and overnight energies and metals carry a daily admin fee (80.1-80.5, 62.5). Whether leveraged CFDs are permissible at all is a question for your own scholar.
Can I deposit in AED?
Not on the account we opened. None of the nine deposit methods offered was in dirhams, and AED was not offered as a base currency. Our card deposit was billed in US dollars with no exchange rate shown, so a card in dirhams is converted by your own bank, at its rate and with its fees. The wire route is in US dollars to a UK IBAN at Equals Money in London. XM charged no fee on our deposit, but that says nothing about what your bank charges to convert.
How much leverage would I get as a UAE client?
Our account was set to 1000:1, on a ladder down to 1:1. At that level, 0.01 lots of EUR/USD needed $1.15 of margin. XM says leverage "may be withdrawn or changed by us at any time, without prior notice" (32.2).
What is XM's minimum deposit?
On our Ultra Low Standard account, the card form set a $50 minimum and a $10,000 maximum per deposit, and we deposited $200. We did not check the minimums for the other eight methods, and the account-selection screen we saw stated no account minimum. XM's wire notice says it covers its banks' transfer fees except on deposits under $200.
Does XM let me own real shares?
Not on the CFD accounts. Standard, Micro and the two Ultra Low accounts trade CFDs, so you get price exposure without ownership, dividends or voting rights. XM's account-selection screen also lists a Shares account in US dollars, with commission, "spread as per underlying exchange" and a one-lot minimum trade. We did not open it, so whether it gives real ownership, its minimum deposit and which company holds it are unconfirmed. We did not see ETFs, bonds or options on the platform list we viewed.
Does XM charge an inactivity fee?
Yes. XM's Client Agreement treats your accounts as dormant after at least 90 calendar days with no trading, deposits, withdrawals or internal transfers across all of them (79.1), and then charges USD 10 a month, or the whole free balance if that is less than USD 10; nothing is charged when the free balance is zero (79.3). Bonuses are removed from dormant accounts, and accounts holding under USD 5 are archived after 90 days without activity (79.2, 79.4). If you test the platform and walk away, withdraw the balance first.
XM says it is CMA-licensed. Is that the UAE regulator?
On XM's UAE sign-up page, yes: the footer says XM Financial Products Promotion L.L.C is "licensed and regulated by the Capital Market Authority (“CMA”) in the UAE under license number 20200000322 as a Category 5 firm", and the CMA register lists the company as Active, though the record we read displays no licence number. That licence covers introduction and promotion, not holding your account. Check which CMA is meant when you see the claim elsewhere: Kenya's Capital Markets Authority shares the abbreviation, and the UAE regulator was called the SCA before it was renamed.
Does XM support Arabic?
We did not test it. When we opened live chat inside the account, XM asked which language to continue in and said localised support options were available; we continued in English, so we did not see whether Arabic is on the list. We did not check Arabic in the trading platforms or the mobile app, and we found no UAE support phone number.
What is the catch with XM's 100% deposit bonus?
On the Ultra Low account there's no bonus: our $200 deposit earned $0.00, and XM's terms exclude Ultra Low accounts (E.7). Where a bonus does apply, it can't be withdrawn (C.3), any withdrawal removes it in proportion (C.4), and dormancy removes it entirely (C.13). On disputes, XM decides "in the manner it deems to be the fairest" (C.15).
What spread did you actually pay on XM?
EUR/USD ran 1.1 to 1.3 pips across seven readings, and gold $0.27 to $0.31 across four, in about half an hour of the London-New York overlap on 14 September 2026. There was no commission, so a 0.01-lot EUR/USD round trip costs about $0.11 to $0.13. XM advertises 0.8 pips and $0.24; we saw neither. It publishes no average.
How long does an XM withdrawal take?
Ours settled about 8.5 hours after we asked. We requested the full $200.01 by card on Monday 14 September 2026, after a face check. It showed as pending on the card within about 18 minutes, and our card issuer marked it Completed with a settlement date of Tuesday 15 September. We withdrew a second balance of $200.53 to the same card from inside the XM App on 21 September, again after a face check. XM says it aims to process withdrawals within one business day (72.3).
Does XM trade against me?
By its own description, XM is the other side of your trades. The Order Execution Policy accepted with our account says XM International MU Limited "is always the counterparty (or principal) to every trade", that an open position "can only be closed with the Company", and that it is "the sole Execution Venue" and "does not transmit the Client order in the external market if the order is for the Security provided by the Company" (s.2, s.5). The Client Agreement adds that XM may offset your position with another client or a counterparty, or keep it as a proprietary position, which can result in "trading profits or losses for us" (82.3). XM discloses this model plainly.
Can I download an account statement from XM?
Not from the web platform, in our test. We found an on-screen trade history and, in the Members Area, a transaction list with date filters but no visible export control, plus a confirmation email for each transaction. XM's Client Agreement says full trading history can be exported through the Members Area (68.2); we did not find where. If you need statements for tax or bank purposes, check before you trade.
